Relive your teenage dreams with the group’s incredible brand new album and UK arena tour!
We can all agree that this year’s been bleak. But the future’s looking brighter (hurrah!) and here to save us from this actual 2020 tragedy are pop icons Steps – aka Clare, Faye, H, Lee and Lisa. The five-piece have just released their incredible new album, What the Future Holds and announced a huge arena tour, kicking off in Sheffield on 2nd November 2021 – get the dates in your diary and your tickets bought now; we all need something amazing to look forward to.
What the Future Holds is the group’s sixth studio album and is packed with the usual unashamedly pop belters that we all know and love. It went on sale this weekend and really is everything you’d expect from Steps and more (cue bopping around the living room in perfect timing with your best pals). Its thundering, gloriously dramatic title track, which was penned by pop queen Sia, is an absolute belter. It’s the perfect statement for Steps, who have taken a wave of nostalgia and alchemised it into an album full of tracks destined as future anthems.
It’s the group’s most ambitious album to date and showcases the big melodic choruses of their top-tier bangers, but also brings back the harmony-laden ballads that we can’t get out of our heads. Plus, if you are a Steps mega fan (like the writer penning this piece) then you’ll be delighted that the album – in addition to CD and Vinyl – is available as part of a special Cassette Collection. Featuring five separate transparent pink solo cassettes with an intro from each band member, it’s an absolute must-have.
The sure-to-be-epic live tour will bring the fabulousness of Steps to 18 arena shows across the UK. Tickets have been selling so fast that the group has already announced four bonus dates in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and London. ‘Performing live has always been our favourite part of being in Steps – we had the most fun of our career on the last tour, and we’re already planning for the next one to be our biggest spectacle yet,’ the group said.
‘We’re also thrilled to have Sophie Ellis-Bextor as our special guest – her catalogue is full of floor-fillers and she knows how to get any party started. We are so excited for everyone to hear this new album and to come join us on tour.’ We certainly think it’s set to be a calendar highlight and the perfect antidote to a gloomy 2020.
Tickets are on sale now, so don’t miss out by heading here and be sure to grab yourself the new album What the Future Holds, too, which is out now featuring the singles What the Future Holds and Something in Your Eyes. After all, you need to learn the words, obvs!
